Bio:
Amelia is currently completing her Master of Psychology in Clinical Psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School and holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University, with concentrations in Counselling & Mental Health and Child & Youth Development.
Amelia’s professional background includes providing individual emotional support, intake assessment, case management, crisis intervention, group facilitation, and client advocacy. She has worked in both clinical and community-based roles, including at a cancer support centre, private psychotherapy clinics, crisis response services, and mental health organizations. Through these experiences, she has developed a strong foundation in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and client-centred care.
Amelia’s current clinical interests include psychological assessment and counselling. She is particularly passionate about supporting clients through periods of uncertainty, loss, identity development, relationship and intimacy challenges, and personal growth. Her interests include helping individuals and couples navigate communication difficulties and the impact of mental health concerns on relationships, while continuing to expand her clinical skills and training.
Drawing from evidence-based and integrative approaches, Amelia incorporates principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. She strives to tailor treatment to each individual’s unique needs, values, and goals.
Amelia is committed to creating a warm, collaborative, and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. She believes meaningful change occurs when individuals are provided with a safe space to explore their experiences, build on their strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward greater well-being and fulfillment.
